Tips for a sucessful interview.
Interviews can be stressful, even though they shouldn't be. Here are four tips for interviewing with Wills Consulting LLC.
- Don't get dressed up. I care about how you think not how you look.
- You will write code during your interview. E-mail me beforehand to tell me what programming language you are most comfortable in. Any of the following are good "interview" languages:
C#, C++, Java, Lisp, Perl, Python, Ruby, Smalltalk, Visual Basic - Wills Consulting produces software applications, not just code. This means that you will need to demonstrate that you understand the fundamentals of good software user interfaces. The best way to prepare for this interview is by actually using software.
- Think about the questions below beforehand. Some of these topics are bound to come up during the interview. Hopefully this will give you a good sense of the material we'll cover during the "conversations" portion.
Questions to ponder
- What is the worst piece of software that you have used this week? The best? Why?
- Name three websites that look attractive. Name three that are ugly.
- How would you improve Microsoft Word?
- What application (desktop or web) did you use the most frequently this week?
- What do you think of Facebook?
- If someone said "Here's $100k. Go make me a software application -- any application -- in three months" what would you make and why?
Good luck, and have fun!
